Conference Activities

Every six months I wait for ya'll to post your stuff about what you use for the kids during conference. It is great. This time I checked out lds.org, and they have got links for stuff--pretty cool. Do we not stand for laws anymore?

I might not like the fact that millions of dollars were given to these guys but the truth is, they were legally and contractually guaranteed this money. IT IS THE LAW. (Sorry Beebs that I am posting on your blog)

Sam's Club vs. Costco

So, I had a free pass to Sam's Club--with no 10% up charge, and I went to find a few things. I really liked it. They have a few things that I really like that I can't find at Costco-- Slim Fast powder, Heart Healthy Bisquick (ever used it? I LOOOOVE it, better for you than the normal stuff, and quick to use. and it was only 3.80something at SC for the BIIIIGGG box--great deal), big can of Planters Cashews for a really good price, and it used to carry a Craisins Snack mix, though I didn't find it this trip. So, it had lots of good stuff, and it was a clean nice store.

I have a Costco membership, and there are many things there that I like to buy also. So my question to all of you--which membership do you have and why do you like it? Anybody found a price difference? Either store better than the other? Better coupons/deals/etc? I liked the cleanliness of Sams... Let me know what ya'll think!

Brennan and the helmet

Let me tell you a story. It starts with a happy boy named Brennan (isn't he darling?!)

He decided to check out his brother's bike helmet. Looks fun! He puts it on his head!

Now he tries bending over and getting into it, upside down.

Hey mom, can you find me? I'm hiding!

What happened? We were having so much fun? Why did it all end? The answer is somewhere in the helmet, though we'll never know the cause!

Ultimate Book Battle

Anybody heard of this? Well, our Elementary Schools "battles" with a neighboring school in reading. Whoever reads the most in a two week period wins. And the losing school's principal has to kiss a pig (or something similar). Weston found out about this at school and came home distressed. I told him it wasn't a REAL battle, just a contest. He was still worried. You see, his cousin attends the school he was battling. And he didn't want his cousin to lose. What a sensitive kid. He was so distraught because he wanted his school to win, for winnings sake, but didn't want his cousin to feel bad. He said, "I wish we could both win." (my child is obviously not competitive...). Well, last week he came home and said, "Guess what? We found out who won the battle." Then tears burst out of him and he said his school won. He was so concerned that his cousin would feel bad!
Weston, let me tell you buddy--YOU ROCK! I am so grateful I have a loving child!

Aidan's first talk

Aidan got to give his first talk in Primary today. He is just so cute--he did a GREAT job. He wasn't afraid at all and just popped up on the stool, but was still too short to see over the podium so I held him up and he spoke loudly and clearly. Here is his talk (mostly written by him with nudges and prompts from me):

I am part of a family.
My dad goes to work and the church. He has the priesthood.
My mom helps us clear the table, make dinners, and take care of us.
My brothers and I have responsibilities, too. We clean the car, eat our food, clean up the toys, have fun and be happy.
Heavenly Father and Jesus are happy when we help our family.

Bags and food

(A catch-up post)

For an enrichment activity last week, I made some drawstring bags to be "auctioned off." I think they turned out pretty good, right? I will be making some like this with jean patchwork for our toyroom.

And I had to show off pics of the food that people brought for a "fancy" party we had back in February (sorry the pics are late!). Doesn't it look delicious--and FANCY?
