The house sold, we packed everything into boxes, and then the last Thursday of March, we invited all of our friends over ... to help us move our furniture! Ten to fifteen people showed up and the work commenced. I am so grateful for people's willingness to serve. I find it interesting that people from our neighborhood help us move out. Glad to see us go?
We moved all the furniture into Scott's brothers garage (THANK YOU MATT AND LIZ). The next day we moved all the boxes into a pod--Scott's siblings and mom and dad came to help with that. We thought we'd get everthing into just one pod. We were wrong. We ordered another one and got all the last STUFF into it. Amazing how much junk we accumulate. And how much space it takes. But I guess if you have two barbeque's, a patio set, snowblower, lawn mower, etc, it will take space. It makes me excited for my third car garage. Right now I am imagining so much extra space. I am sure just after a few years we will be crowded again!
Saturday and Sunday we listened to General Conference--without any furniture, and packed up the remaining last things. Monday I invited my bestest girl friends and had a house cleaning party (thank you Debbie and Cindy!). Tuesday we moved everything to Scott's parents house and so begins our wanderings in the wilderness!
Just to keep things spicy--never a dull moment--we packed things up again and the kids and I drove up to visit Heidi and the gang! The kids are off track for the next three weeks, so this was a great time to visit. We had such a good time while we were there! Some activities we did:
- Went up to the campus, played kickball (awesome!!! we need to do this more often!), ate lunch (a delicious picnic lunch full of sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, and chocolate milk. Most wasn't eaten, but that which was eaten was delish!) in the gardens, then played in the preschool playgrounds (it was so fun to see where I went to preschool--and show the kids where I learned my ABC's!), then went to the Spori building to see the art exhibit, then went to the Snow building and wanted to use a big room to have a mini recital, but everything was locked, so instead we propped open a practice room door and everyone played their piano pieces. A VERY filled day full of fun and memories.
- We dyed easter eggs, which of course means we made eggs golden rod!
- Sunday easter egg activitiy--each egg had a little thing in it which went along with a scripture about easter and the last one is empty, just like the Tomb was empty.
- Bairds came for Sunday dinner, but the pie was really gross and the peas were even grosser. But, the meat and salad and potatoes were great!
- Elise and Rowan had a great time together--they are going to be good friends.
- The boys all slept together in GRBS LR (which my husband thought for so long was Gerb's Lure...) and had a great time together playing computer games and other boy games.
- Of course there was Taco Tag with neighbor friends followed by the easter egg hunt--with glow in the dark Easter Eggs (put a glow in the dark bracelet thingy inside an easter egg)
- The Barkers took the Daw boys to Tae Kwan Do with them and their eyes were opened to a great sport. Weston and Aidan both really loved it and haven't stopped talking about it. And wow, those Barkers are great!
- We did another activity with foam crafts--which we then forgot them and left them in Idaho. :(
- We just had a marvelous time!!! Thank you so much Heidi!
So that we wouldn't be too much in the way, I have tried to have things for the kids to do. We went up to Clearfield to visit my friend Popenhagen (my companion from the mission) and her kids and we took them all to the Air Force Museum. I love free things, and they are even better when they are so much fun! The kids loved it. There was a fun area full of things to do for the kids--simulation flying, science stuff, etc.
Aidan loves rocks so we went to the Natural History Museum (had to pay...) and it was nice. Crowded, but neat things for the kids to see. The gems/rocks/etc section was small, but the kids loved it.
We had free tickets to the Tracy Aviary, which I have never been to. It is just like a little zoo for birds. It was really fun for the kids. Right outside of it is a big park that had a fun stream meant for kids to play in. There were tons of trees and little pools and walkways. The kids had a blast. It happened to be a really warm day so it worked out perfectly.
Red Butte Gardens had a free day, so we piled in and drove up there. It was nice, but so cold (the weather here in Utah is crazy!), so we didn't stay long. Some friends joined up with us, and the kids kept warm by playing tag all over the gardens. I don't think they want us to return there, we were rather loud and rambunctious.
We have had to drive back out to Herriman a few times forpreschool, soccer, and scouts. The boys are really doing well with soccer. Weston is a good defensive player and can really boot it. And he also does well offensively, scoring every game. Aidan has upped his game and is handling the ball really well. He made a score the other day!
Weston finished up all the requirements for his wolf and had it presented to him at April's pack meeting. I really wanted him to receive it in that ward so I am glad he did. Aidan had his music recital to show off what he has learned in his second year of Let's Play Music. He has done great!
Brennan is still going strong in preschool. We have had to miss some days because it is hard to drive out to Herriman so much, so instead he has been my helper here at the house. He is also loving being with Grandma and Grandpa and always wants Grandpa to tickle him, but then screams for him to stop!
Elise has picked up so many words lately. A few days after we got here, she said, "no go home. stay here." Wowsers! A sentence! She calls grandpa (and grandma...) "Bumpa". She is a good girl, and has only broken one of grandma's vases, spilled chocolate milk on the carpet once, and drawn with crayon on only 10 cupboards (which by the way, is EASY to remove if you heat up the crayon by using a blow dryer on it for a minute, then wipe with dish soap!). Although it is hard on these kids to have so much change going on, I think they are handling it well.
Can't wait for the new house!
