Being Sick

Well, for the past few days I have been sick with the flu. I have let the kids just do what they want--seriously, whatever they want. Weston is in charge of getting breakfast--fortunately we have lots of cereal and oatmeal. Lunch I try to help out with, but usually it is just cereal (again) and popsicles. I don't do any clean up--I leave that for Scott, lucky guy. (He has been so good--poor guy, all he does is clean up and take care of the kids.... I guess it kind of sounds like my normal days... but still, he also brings home the money... poor guy!) Anyway. This is the mess I found this afternoon--Brennan into the pots and pans (of course), but also some oatmeal. Dishes all over, plus tons of other STUFF. Do you think I cleaned it up? Nope, just grabbed a popsicle and headed back up to bed. I've had some help (besides Scott), a friend brought dinner, and I have sent the kids over to my neighbors. But, it has been too long and we needed to get out. So, we headed out to drive around and I was apologizing to Scott for being so lazy. I told him that I felt like I have done nothing. Weston said, "You only watch tv." Wow. How sad. I feel like a terrible mother. But it is true--for three days I have done nothing but watch tv (there is a lot of really STUPID stuff on tv). So, my apologies to my children. I don't know what more I could do, though. I have been REALLLLY sick.

Still, I am sorry. I think I am pretty much over it now.

Well, maybe one more day in bed.

Aidan's Birthday

My teeny tiny baby Aidan is FOUR years old!!!! Hard to believe, but it is true. The sweet boy has been so excited and has asked for the past week "how many days til my birthday?"

He had a party on Saturday and invited a few friends over to play "Superheros". They mostly jumped on the jump house and ate popsicles. Though I did make a rockin' spiderman pinata that they loved.

He chose Trix as his Birthday cereal and Hot Dogs for his dinner (big surprise there--I'm kidding...). Scott took him out for lunch as a surprise -- for corn dogs (big surprise). We went to Weston's last baseball game (which they didn't play because HUGE BLACK clouds were threatening. As soon as we got in the car HAIL started pouring down!), and then came back to the house with Grandma and Grandpa and had a little wing-ding. He got Shake-n-go Dragsters from them and a trike from us! He unfortunately can't really ride the trike yet because of all the rain, but inside he is liking it.

He has grown quite a bit in the past year--He is now 37 inches (that means he has grown three inches in the past year!) and 27 1/2 pounds. I know he is pretty small, but he is growing! What a good kid! He said a prayer yesterday without any help cause he knows four years old can do that. :) He is quite a fun kid and we are so glad we have him!!!

New Calling

Well, I have a new calling-- Second Counselor in the Primary. I am pretty excited. I get to work with some AMAZING women! Our President rocks. She is so calm and collected and keeps things unstressed. Our First Counselor is a go-getter! She knows what she is doing and she does it well. And the secretary is my good friend and is such a put together and organized person (plus I just love her!). So, I think we make a good team and we are going to have a lot of fun!

I did the Sharing Time today. I was in Primary a few years ago as the secretary and was so glad I never had to do ST. I was terrified of it. But, after being in Scouts for three years, I got over my fear and it is pretty fun! I started off today's ST by "seeing" a mouse running around. I "caught" it and showed them that we have a "church mouse" living at the church. He is as quiet as a church mouse, and we need to be quiet like he is (and not scare him off with all the loud noises). I think it went over well. As they left the room, I let them see him and I reminded them to be quiet as church mice.

So, I am not full of ideas, and I know many of you are--plus you probably have served or are serving in Primary. Is there anything that works for your primary that we can try out? Anything you have done or seen that is amazing? We are thinking of changing our nursery to "stations"--three nurseries that move from room to room doing the different things (singing time, lesson, snack, toys, etc). Anybody done that? Hints? any other ideas you'd love to share?

Aidan's staples

Aidan fell in the shower a few weeks ago and had to get staples. There was so much blood because it was a head wound and with the water from the shower, it made it seem even more so! But, he is doing well--the staples were put in cause it is faster and since it is in the hair, you can't see the scar. Thanks to those who helped out in a tight spot (the other kids went to Lesters, and as soon as we got back, their neice who was there had to go get stitches!).

Happy Birthday Weston!

Six Years Old! What a great day! Weston is finally six. He is such a big kid--I look back to photos from last year and it seems like he has aged 10 years!

For his birthday, he wanted a Sonic the Hedgehog Party. I know nothing about Sonic, so looked up party ideas for it--it seems it isn't really popular... But, we did some fun things. The kids looked for "Chaos Emeralds" (Ring pops) hidden around the yard and then went through an "obstacle course" of sorts--like they were playing a ninetendo type game--going up the ladder, down the slide, over the bridge, find "chaos rings" (jelly bracelets) in the "waterfall" (sprinkler), and jump up to grab "coins" (bag of play coins and candy". Then they popped a bunch of balloons with candy inside looking for the Main Chaos emerald that Dr. Eggman (I think...the bad guy) had broken apart (pieces of paper put together to form an emerald). I don't know if it was truly fun, but the boys were all happy (boys--we had eleven kids!!! What was I thinking?). Then presents and ice cream with toppings.

That night my parents and sister and her kids were here so we had a very small wing ding. They gave him a huge floor Star Wars coloring book. Huge hit.

He chose Lucky Charms for his birthday cereal (a tradition). And he wanted Chicken Pot Pie for dinner. I slaved over that and the cupcakes for HOURS on his birthday! The cake is a bunch of cupcakes together to form an emerald. Not my favorite cake, but I was really in a bind with the theme. He was happy though! Grandma and Grandpa came and we opened presents and had cake. We got him a little MP3 player with the Star Wars theme on it. He is so far enjoying it! Grandma and pa gave him the Clone Wars movie and Night Vision goggles.

Happy Birthday big kid! We love everything about you!!!
